do not lean
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
God has proven himself faithful countless times. He does so in scripture and also in my personal life. Yet, like many before me, I quickly forget his faithfulness and turn to myself.
Without God in my life, I could probably still be above average and maybe even pretty successful. I could work in my own strength, leaning on my own understanding, and do a decent job by the world's standards.
Sadly, this is where I and most Christians operate most of the time.
Instead, let's trust in the Lord, with ALL our hearts. Not even leaning a little bit on our own understanding.
Let's live by the power of the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead, because that same power is available to us. (Rom. 8:11, 15:13, 15:19, others)
Let's do all things through Christ, because he strengthens us. (Phil. 4:13)
Imagine business, work, marriage, life... operating in dependance on the God that created the universe rather than yourself, a created thing.
Let's live life in step with the Spirit, taking prayerful "risks", trusting God for the results.
He'll come through.
